Government funds digitalisation initiatives to the tune of approximately 443,000 euros

Saxony-Anhalt, a state in eastern Germany, is advancing its digitalization efforts with the revised and expanded funding directive for digitalization projects in 2025 and 2026. The funding aims to support innovative ideas that contribute to digital sovereignty and data protection, and to implement the cross-sectional goals of the "Saxony-Anhalt Digital 2030" strategy.

The funding decisions, totalling around 443,000 euros, were recently presented by Dr. Lydia Hüskens, the Minister for Infrastructure and Digitalization of Saxony-Anhalt. The city of Halle (Saale) received funding for the "HAL-City" smart city project, while STRADIS Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH received funding for the "SIGNAL-AI" project. Other recipients include Flying Circus Internet Operations GmbH, which will establish a local, sovereign, data protection-compliant, open KI lab, and Endlos Industries KG, which will establish a coworking space on the outskirts of Halle (Saale).

As of today, 83 applications with a total funding volume of around 8.9 million euros have been submitted. The funding directive serves as a common basis for the specialist strategies, concepts, digital political themes, and goals of the state government, and aims to advance municipalities and districts in the field of smart city and smart region through the use of digital technologies.

The "Saxony-Anhalt Digital 2030" strategy, which serves as an overarching framework since 2023, includes topics such as New Work: Co-Working Spaces and Digital Public Services in Demographic Change. The revised funding directive also focuses on projects that benefit many people in the state.

The eligibility criteria for the funding directive typically include businesses, public institutions, and sometimes research organizations located in Saxony-Anhalt, projects fitting within the strategic goals of digital transformation, such as IT infrastructure, digital services, cybersecurity, or innovation in digital technologies, and often an emphasis on SMEs. The application process usually involves the submission of a project proposal, compliance with funding guidelines, online application portals, or direct submissions to the responsible state authority, and deadlines for calls for proposals announced in advance.

For precise and current information on eligibility and application procedures for the "Saxony-Anhalt Digital 2030" funding directive, it is recommended to consult the official Saxony-Anhalt government websites or their digital affairs ministry. These sources publish detailed funding calls, application forms, and contact information for support.

The funding directive in Saxony-Anhalt also supports other initiatives that leverage digital technologies, such as Flying Circus Internet Operations GmbH's plan to establish a local, open KI lab, promoting finance through the development of a data protection-compliant artificial intelligence lab. Additionally, Endlos Industries KG aims to foster technology and innovation by creating a coworking space on the outskirts of Halle (Saale), contributing to the state's smart region goals as part of the "Saxony-Anhalt Digital 2030" strategy.
