Heidesand Cooperative's 30M Euro Potato Plant Project Aims to Modernize Packaging Processes
Heidesand Cooperative is investing 30 million euros in a potato packaging plant project. The cooperative, with over 1,000 members and around 200 employees, aims to modernise its potato handling processes. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed earlier than the construction of the new Heidekreis Hospital, which has a budget of 278 million euros and starts late 2028.
Heidesand Raiffeisen-Warengenossenschaft eG, based in Scheeßel, delivers between 70,000 and 80,000 tons of potatoes annually, mostly through its site in Neuenkirchen. The cooperative is set to automate its packaging process using photo-optical systems and robots for box placement. Despite automation, the human factor remains crucial.
The first phase of the Heidesand project, slated for completion next year, will provide a 10,000 square meter hall for the potato business relocation. This will significantly improve the cooperative's packaging capabilities and efficiency.
Heidesand's 30 million euro investment in its potato packaging plant project is set to transform its operations. The cooperative's commitment to modernisation and automation, while retaining the human touch, is expected to enhance its productivity and market competitiveness.
