HP Joins Major Printer Makers in Offering Driver-Free Printing Solutions
HP has introduced its 'ePrint' service, joining other major printer manufacturers like Canon, Epson, Brother, and Lexmark in offering printing solutions for smartphones, tablets, and web browsers. These services eliminate the need for traditional printer drivers and installation programs.
HP's ePrint service allows users to print documents directly from their smartphones or tablets, manage print jobs via web browsers, and even send print orders via email. Similarly, Brother's 'iPrint&Scan' service supports over six different office document formats and various platforms, although it requires a network or WLAN connection for commands.
Managed printing services (MPS) are business-focused solutions that help companies adapt their print output to actual demand, saving resources. These services require internet-enabled printers or corresponding apps. Epson's 'iPrint' service, for instance, includes a mobile app, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and a 'Scan to Cloud' service. Canon's 'Cloud Link' service offers apps like 'PhotoPrint' and 'Mobile Printing', focusing on photo printing.
These printing services act as a bridge between printers and computers or mobile devices, providing convenient, driver-free printing solutions. They cater to both personal and business needs, with managed printing services helping companies optimize their print output and save resources.
