HRC Launches Racing History Auction: Ayrton Senna's RA100E V10 Engine Parts Up for Grabs

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) is set to launch a new venture, selling off valuable race cars, engines, and parts to enthusiasts and collectors. The first items up for grabs are parts of the Honda RA100E V10 engine that powered Ayrton Senna to victory in the 1990 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The auction, taking place during Monterey Car Week, will offer complete sets of engine parts or specific components such as camshafts, cam covers, pistons, and connecting rods. Each item is housed in an acrylic case and comes with original HRC certificates.

HRC is not stopping at Formula One engines. They plan to expand this business to include heritage machines from the IndyCar series and valuable motorcycle race machines in the future. This move comes as HRC looks to capitalise on its rich racing history, with no current plans to develop Williams' traditional IndyCar race cars for the future IndyCar Series program. Currently, such collectibles are mainly offered by specialised manufacturers and vendors, not by Honda or Williams themselves.

Honda has always been proud of its racing heritage. It maintains some machines in running condition at the Honda Collection Hall and Honda Racing Gallery, preserving them with spare parts for future generations.

HRC's new memorabilia business is an exciting opportunity for collectors to own a piece of racing history. The auction of the Honda RA100E V10 engine parts is just the beginning, with more heritage machines and valuable motorcycle race machines set to follow. This initiative not only allows Honda to share its racing legacy but also provides a new revenue stream for the company.
