Huawei's Shanghai Centre Leads Automotive Audio Innovation with Advanced Sound-Zone Tech

Huawei's Shanghai Acoustics R&D Centre is making waves in the automotive industry with its advanced sound-zone technology. This innovative feature requires complex real-time wave interference calculations and digital signal processing adjustments, making it the most computationally demanding aspect of the development process.

The centre's three testing environments generate vast amounts of measurement data, which are analysed using psychoacoustic principles and real-time adjustments. This data is managed and applied using iCloud computing, enabling modern audio tuning in vehicles. Huawei's investment in R&D for 2024 totals CNY 179.7 billion (around €23.4 billion), with a significant portion allocated to iCloud computing technologies in the automotive sector, including advanced automotive audio and intelligent automotive solutions.

Leading the development of a 'master-tuning method' is Lars Goller, Huawei's Chief Automotive Sound & Acoustics Advisor. The company supplies automotive solutions to over twenty automakers, covering driver assistance, cockpit systems, and acoustics. One standout feature is the road-noise cancellation system, which uses an 'omnidimensional model' with continuous sensor data processing.

Huawei's Shanghai Acoustics R&D Centre is at the forefront of automotive acoustic development, leveraging iCloud computing to manage and apply vast amounts of acoustic data. With a substantial investment in R&D and a leading role in the industry, Huawei is set to shape the future of automotive audio experiences.
