In the bustling world of fintech, the latest event to catch the eye is our platformSpring, a homegrown fintech conference held in San Diego from May 7 to 9. The event, which focuses on promoting innovative fintech solutions, welcomed a diverse range of companies from around the globe.
One of the standout participants was APIMatic, a New Zealand-based company specializing in developer experience tools. APIMatic offers API code generation, transformation, and SDK generation, helping fintechs and other software platforms automate API integration. Founded in 2014, Adeel Ali serves as the CEO of APIMatic.
Another notable participant was Cinareo Solutions, a Canadian fintech company with a focus on payment solutions or financial services technology. Although detailed public information on Cinareo Solutions may be limited, they were winners of our platform's Sustainability & Inclusion Scholarship Program. Karen Elliott serves as the CEO of Cinareo Solutions, and the company was launched in 2022.
Other notable fintechs at the event included Djamo, a startup raising $17 million to boost financial inclusion in French-speaking Africa, and BidFinance, a Polish fintech that raised €1.6 million in seed funding.
Meanwhile, in the Middle East and Africa, there were significant developments. The Central Bank of Nigeria fined Paystack $190,000 for operating its latest solution, Zap, without the appropriate licensing. In a separate move, Nigerian fintech and microfinance bank, Bankly, was acquired by C-One Ventures.
Elsewhere, UAE-based Islamic bank Ruya introduced a new service to enable customers to trade cryptocurrencies via its mobile app. Singapore fintech Surfin raised $26.5 million to provide financial solutions for the underbanked.
In Asia, Malaysia announced the operational launch of its Malaysian Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI). Slovenian payment processing company Bankart partnered with Iliad Solutions as its payment testing provider.
In Latin America, International identity verification firm Veriff opened new offices in São Paulo, Brazil, and FinMont, an international payment orchestration platform, unveiled new offices in Bogotá, Colombia. Uruguay-based cross-border payment platform dLocal announced a strategic partnership with online international education platform 51Talk.
In the MENA region, the MENA Fintech Association (MFTA) welcomed Iraq-based digital payments and identity services provider International Smart Card (ISC).
Finally, Hong Kong-based Airstar Bank partnered with Tencent Cloud to migrate its operations to the cloud.
