Introduced New Scout Models: Traveler and Terra, equipped with front trunks, electric and extended range SUV and truck options in gas
Scout Motors Unveils Electric Traveler SUV and Terra Truck
Scout Motors, a new automotive company, has made a splash in the industry with the launch of two all-electric vehicle concepts: the Scout® Traveler™ SUV and Scout® Terra™ truck. Both vehicles are set to hit the market in 2027, promising a unique blend of advanced electric technology, off-road capability, and customer-centric service.
Design and Body Style
The Traveler, an SUV with four doors and seating for up to five, pays homage to Scout's heritage with a design that is both modern and reminiscent of the original Scout. It boasts a spacious front trunk ("frunk") for extra storage and can accommodate front bench seats that fold into armrests and stowage. The Terra, on the other hand, is a pickup truck designed for serious utility, featuring a half-cab style and a robust build ideal for hauling and towing.
Capability
Both vehicles are designed to handle challenging terrains. The Terra offers impressive performance, including over 10,000 pounds towing capacity, nearly 2,000 pounds payload, 35-inch tires, more than 12 inches ground clearance, and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds. The Traveler, while emphasizing family-friendly design and enclosed cargo space, similarly boasts strong off-road capability.
Electric and Gasoline Options
Both vehicles feature a fully electric drivetrain with a projected range of about 350 miles on a single charge and support 800-volt fast charging. For those seeking extended range, optional "Harvester" models combine electric drive with a gasoline-powered range extender, boosting total range to about 500 miles.
Customer-Centric Approach
Scout Motors is committed to providing exceptional customer service. They plan to establish an expanding dealer and service network, with 15 retail locations initially and an aim for 100 across North America by 2032. They will also offer mobile service to reach customers without nearby service centers. The vehicles' designs reflect this commitment, with practical storage options and seating flexibility to accommodate a range of customer needs.
In summary, the Scout Terra is a high-capability electric pickup focused on towing and off-road ruggedness, while the Scout Traveler is a four-door SUV emphasizing family-friendly design and enclosed cargo space. Both support all-electric and range-extended powertrains, with a strong commitment to customer service infrastructure. They represent a modern revival of the classic Scout brand tailored for electric vehicle buyers.
