Introducing AI and Robotics Integrated Office Design by KDDI

In a bid to revolutionise the construction industry, KDDI Corp. has introduced a new service that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and robots into the design and operation of offices, factories, warehouses, stores, and stadiums. The Japanese telecommunications giant aims to generate 80 billion yen in revenue from this service by fiscal 2028.

The service, which is primarily targeted at clients in Japan and Southeast Asia, offers free AI tools for office interior design and equipment selection starting from fiscal 2026. These tools are designed to enhance the appeal of offices to potential employees, addressing the challenge of securing talent in a competitive hiring market.

The free AI tools will propose designs from multiple vendors and create layout processes, further reducing construction costs and periods. They are an addition to KDDI's existing service that anticipates electrical wiring needs and robot flows at the planning stage of building construction, relocation, or renovation.

The main service offering, which does not generate revenue for KDDI, is applicable to various types of buildings, not just offices. It is expected to reduce additional construction costs or periods, making it an attractive option for clients looking to streamline their building projects.

KDDI's goal with the free AI tools is to make offices more attractive to secure talent in a competitive hiring market. By offering these tools at no cost, KDDI hopes to expand the reach of its service offerings and attract a wider client base.

This approach helps lower additional construction costs and shorten construction periods. Starting fiscal 2026, KDDI will also provide free generative AI tools that propose office interiors and equipment from multiple vendors and produce layout plans, enhancing the attractiveness and functionality of workspaces to help companies secure talent amid hiring challenges.
