Introducing the Innovative TESLA.45 Driver in Beyerdynamic's New Studio Headphones
At NAMM 2025, audio brand beyerdynamic made a splash with the announcement of its advanced TESLA.45 driver in two high-end studio headphones: the DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII.
Both headphone models unveiled at NAMM 2025 boast enhanced comfort and improved sound quality. The DT 1770 PRO MKII, catering to closed-back listeners, offers a lively sound profile with deep, precise bass. The DT 1990 PRO MKII, designed for open-back enthusiasts, provides a natural and spacious soundstage. Each model features the breakthrough TESLA.45 driver, which boasts lower Total Harmonic Distortion for cleaner signals and improved accuracy.

The core of the new TESLA.45 driver is a high-performance PEEK polymer diaphragm, responsible for cutbacks in distortion and enhances response. Its lighter aluminum-coated copper wire voice coil smoothes out high-frequency treble, essential for critical mixing decisions. The diaphragm is crafted at Beyerdynamic's headquarters in Germany, undergoing multiple tests to ensure consistent quality.

The DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII boast a transformed frequency response, featuring lower impedance (30Ω) for optimal compatibility with a wide range of devices. The revamped headphones stand the test of time due to their replaceable headbands and earpads, available in various materials, including leatherette and velour.

The DT 1770 PRO MKII offers both leatherette and velour earpads alike, with the DT 1990 PRO MKII featuring distinct earpads suitable for producing, mixing, and mastering. Both models come with various cable options and a dedicated hard case for protection during travel.
Available now at $599.99 on the beyerdynamic e-shop and Amazon, these revamped and improved headphones are a significant upgrade for both closed-back and open-back audio enthusiasts and professionals.
The Tesla.45 driver in the new DT 1770 PRO MKII headphones can be replaced with alternative earpads for customizable comfort. During the NAMM 2025 event, the studio headphone expert Beyerdynamic showcased their DM1770 PRO MKII, equipped with studio headphones that utilized the Tesla.45 driver.
