Investment Total of $30m Secured by Keychain for Continued Growth and Increased Operations
Keychain, a leading supply chain platform that connects brands, retailers, and manufacturers with manufacturing partners, has announced the successful completion of a $38 million funding round. This brings the total funding for the company to $68 million.
The funding will be used to accelerate the roll-out of KeychainOS, an AI-enabled operating system designed to help manufacturers manage their production cycle more efficiently. The platform aims to build a better way for manufacturers to run their business, helping them get product to market faster and take waste out of the system.
KeychainOS is purpose-built for consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing and offers several competitive advantages. Unlike traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems that require long implementation times and multiple add-ons to be fully functional, KeychainOS provides rapid deployment, scalability, and integrated AI capabilities tailored to the complexities of CPG manufacturing.
One of the key advantages of KeychainOS is its ability to be implemented within days, drastically reducing time to value versus traditional ERP systems like Oracle or QAD, which can take months or years to roll out. The platform also leverages AI throughout the production cycle, handling production planning, supplier coordination, quality management, demand forecasting, bottleneck prediction, and safety management, delivering real-time decision automation and continuous optimization.
Keychain's platform is also deeply specialized in CPG, covering diverse consumer goods categories including food, beverage, supplements, health, beauty, and soon pet and household products. This contrasts with broader ERPs that require extensive customization to fit CPG needs.
Another competitive edge of Keychain is its network effects and ecosystem. The platform connects manufacturers with over 20,000 brands and retailers, creating a supply chain ecosystem that enhances discovery, sourcing, and collaboration. Its AI-enhanced search and discovery layer helps retailers find suitable manufacturers quickly.
Brands and retailers use the platform for free, while manufacturers pay subscription fees, averaging $20,000 annually per manufacturer. This usage-based model supports steady revenue growth and platform scaling across the U.S., Canada, and planned expansion to Europe and India.
Keychain competes with established players like Oracle, Redzone, and QAD by offering a purpose-built, AI-powered operating system specifically designed for CPG manufacturing. The company's ability to rapidly deploy, its AI-driven operational intelligence, deep CPG focus, and an expanding connected ecosystem provide it a competitive edge as a more nimble, intelligent, and integrated alternative to legacy ERP platforms and modular solutions like TraceGains and Redzone.
Keychain has already demonstrated a strong ability to bring new products to market quickly while scaling operations effectively. Seven of the top 10 CPG brands, including General Mills, are using the Keychain platform.
The funding round was led by Wellington Management and BoxGroup, with other existing investors also participating. Molly Breiner, sector lead for private climate investing at Wellington Management, stated that Keychain offers a more streamlined and connected alternative to traditional ERP systems. Oisin Hanrahan, cofounder of Keychain, stated that KeychainOS is an AI-enabled operating system for manufacturers to better run their facilities.
With this new funding, Keychain plans to double the size of its engineering team to around 70 people. The company aims to create a more efficient, resilient, and connected ecosystem for manufacturers, meeting the urgent market demand from manufacturers challenged by increasing complexity, speed, and cost pressures in modern supply chains.
