Is it possible to use Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 cases with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE?
The tech world is abuzz with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, a re-release of the last-generation foldable phone. This new device, priced at $900 for the 256GB model and $900 for the 128GB version after the launch promo ends, comes with a few changes compared to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Similarities with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE maintains the same dimensions as its predecessor, with unfolded dimensions of 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm and folded dimensions of 85.1 x 71.9 x 14.9 mm. The cover screen size remains at 3.4 inches, while the inner screen size is still 6.7 inches. This means that Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 cases will fit the Flip 7 FE seamlessly, and vice versa.
Differences with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6
While the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE shares many similarities with the Flip 6, there are some key differences. The device is cheaper than the Flip 6, which was priced at $1,100 at launch for the base 256GB/12GB model. However, the Flip 7 FE comes with an Exynos 2400 chipset, which is slower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC found in the Flip 6.
Compatibility with Other Samsung Devices
It's important to note that the compatibility of cases does not extend to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (non-FE version). The Flip 7 FE and Flip 7 have different dimensions, external screen sizes, and button placements, making their cases incompatible with each other.
A Strategy to Compete with Motorola
With Motorola usually relaunching last year's Plus model as the new basic Razr, while the Plus model is the most improved new foldable, Samsung appears to be trying to replicate this strategy with the Flip 7 FE and Flip 7. This could be an attempt to compete with Motorola's Razr and Razr Plus models.

- Despite its lower price point, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE falls behind its predecessor in terms of processing power, as it uses an Exynos 2400 chipset compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
- Using the same cases for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is possible due to their shared dimensions and screen sizes. However, cases designed for the Flip 7 non-FE version will not fit the Flip 7 FE or vice versa, as they have different dimensions and button placements.
