ITP Aero & Honeywell Open Europe's First F124 Engine MRO Centre in Madrid
ITP Aero and Honeywell Aerospace Technologies have collaborated to open Europe's first maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) service centre for the Honeywell F124-GA-200 engine in Madrid. The new facility, located at ITP Aero's site in Ajalvir, aims to enhance engine readiness and operational flexibility for European customers.
Until now, F124 engines in service across Europe required longer, more complex logistics chains for repair and overhaul. The new centre, underlined as crucial by John Head, Vice President and General Manager, Engines, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, strengthens commitment to reducing turnaround times and costs for European operators.
The Madrid facility is now fully equipped to service more than 150 F124 engines currently operating across Europe. This expansion bolsters Europe's aerospace ecosystem and boosts Spain's industrial footprint, as noted by Alan Jones, Executive Vice President of MRO at ITP Aero. ITP Aero was awarded the F124 licence in 2024, leading to the establishment of the Madrid facility. The centre underscores the importance of collaboration between international engine manufacturers and regional partners.
The new MRO centre in Madrid, a result of Honeywell and ITP Aero's partnership, is set to improve engine support for military and training aircraft powered by the F124 engine across Europe. With reduced turnaround times and costs, it strengthens Europe's aerospace capabilities and further cements Spain's role in the industry.
