Jaguar Land Rover Production Halted by Cyberattack

Jaguar Land Rover, the renowned carmaker, has been targeted by a cyberattack, leading to a temporary halt in production. The company has disclosed that 'some data' was compromised but has not provided further details.

The attack occurred at the end of August, with the identity of the perpetrators still unknown. Typically, around 1,000 cars roll off the production line daily, but this has been at a standstill since the incident. The group behind the attack is believed to be a collaboration between the cybercrime groups Scattered Spider, Lapsus$, and ShinyHunters, operating under the name 'Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters'.

Potential losses for the carmaker are estimated to be up to £120 million (around €138 million). Jaguar Land Rover has extended its production shutdown and will remain halted until October 1. The company is working with specialists, the UK's National Cyber Crime Unit, and the police to resume operations safely.

Jaguar Land Rover is currently assessing the damage caused by the cyberattack. The extended production shutdown is expected to have a significant impact on the company's operations and finances. The investigation into the attack is ongoing, with the company working closely with relevant authorities to ensure a safe resumption of production.
