Japan-based Securitize Japan initiates digital securities platform in partnership with NTT Data
NTT Data, a leading Japanese IT services provider, and Securitize, a digital securities platform company, have been collaborating for 4.5 years to offer security token services. This partnership has now extended to include the development of a digital securities platform aimed at supporting bond issuance for companies seeking to revitalize local economies.
The digital securities platform will be built upon Securitize's infrastructure, with NTT Data engaging regional financial institutions as potential bond administrators, issuers, and securities firms. This collaboration could lead to increased regional financial institution support for local economic revitalization efforts.
MUFG, the founder of Progmat, holds a larger stake (42%) in the platform, while NTT Data is the second largest shareholder (11.7%) in Japan's biggest digital securities platform, Progmat. MUFG is also an investor in Securitize.
The initial focus of the digital securities platform will be to share investor information with bond issuers, with potential future expansion including the issuance of digital bonds and the tokenization of other financial assets.
In Japan, most bonds are sold via securities firms, and the issuers often do not have direct contact with investors. By facilitating regional financial institution involvement in bond issuance, the digital securities platform could help bridge this gap.
Securitize is well-known in the United States for issuing BlackRock's BUIDL money market fund, and the company recently acquired a Japanese web3 development firm named BUIDL. NTT Data owns Japan Information Processing (JIP), the operator of Japan's largest bond issuance and payment agent solution.
The potential benefits of this collaboration could extend beyond the digital securities platform. NTT Data's involvement in Progmat may provide opportunities for further collaboration between the two companies, potentially leading to advancements in cloud modernization, AI transformation, and data center infrastructure, as NTT Data focuses on engaging regional financial institutions.
For the latest updates about Securitize or NTT Data in this context, it is recommended to check their official press releases, websites, or specialized financial technology news channels, as no direct data is found in current sources regarding ongoing or future collaborations specifically between Securitize and NTT Data regarding a digital securities platform in Japan or plans for tokenizing other financial assets.
