Kambi Group Faces Testing Hurdle in Nevada Ahead of Gaming License Approval

Kambi Group, a B2B sports betting supplier based in Malta, is currently experiencing an unexpected reporting issue during the testing phase in Nevada. The issue needs to be resolved before the company can secure a gaming license in the state, which is considered the gold standard for gaming regulation in the United States.

The testing for Kambi Group in Nevada is expected to be completed by the end of October, with more testing to be done by the end of November. The company has a deal in place for a field test at Bally's Lake Tahoe in Nevada.

The CEO of Kambi Group, Werner Becher, has been at the helm since July 2024. This is his first time being licensed in Nevada, and he has applications pending in other states. Becher has had to step down on other company boards he served on to become the CEO of Kambi Group.

Becher has a background in founding a software company in 2003 and serving as CEO of various sports betting providers. He spends 50% of his time in his main office in London and the rest of the time traveling to meet customers and staff.

Kambi Group currently holds Manufacturer & Distributor and Information Services licenses in Nevada, which they secured in January 2025. Becher received a gaming license recommendation from the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) on August 6, 2025. The final decision on his Nevada gaming license is scheduled for August 21, 2025, when the Nevada Gaming Commission will review and decide on the approval.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has recommended Becher for a gaming license in Nevada. The product of Kambi Group will be submitted to the Nevada Gaming Control Board for approval after the completion of testing.

Being licensed in Nevada is worth the tough process, according to Becher. Nevada is known as the gold standard in the industry for licensing, and there is a lot of experience and knowledge in the region. Kambi Group serves more than 50 operators in over 60 jurisdictions, including 20 states in the U.S. As the CEO of Kambi Group, Becher's main responsibilities include driving global strategy for software development, trading, and risk management for customers.

The company employs approximately 1,000 people with offices in eight global locations, including Philadelphia. With the approval in Nevada, Kambi’s credibility and standing with regulators in other states would be enhanced.
