Large-scale contract awarded to MT Group for carrying out critical infrastructure work at the Brunsbüttel FSRU LNG Terminal in Germany
In a significant development, MT Group has been awarded a major contract for the execution of all topside and onshore based infrastructure at the new jetty in Brunsbuettel FSRU LNG Terminal in Germany. This contract marks an extraordinary moment for the company, as it signifies a pivotal milestone in strengthening MT Group's establishment in Western Europe's most critical energy transformation efforts.
The Brunsbuettel facility, which began operation in 2023, is one of three operational terminals in Germany owned by Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET), Germany's state-owned operator of Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs). This terminal is a flagship component of Germany's national energy security and diversification plan, playing a crucial role in importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) to help improve the country’s energy security by diversifying gas supply amid geopolitical challenges and energy transition pressures.
Under this agreement, MT Group will execute a full package of all topside and onshore based infrastructure, including mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil installation, and tie-in works into the existing grid system. This award reflects MT Group’s proven capability to execute mission-critical infrastructure at the highest European standards: on time and with uncompromising precision.
Mindaugas Zakaras, CEO of MT Group, commented on the contract, saying, "This contract marks an extraordinary moment for our company." The selection for Brunsbuettel builds on MT Group's unmatched experience in connecting FSRU infrastructure in the Baltic region, particularly at the Klaipeda LNG Terminal in Lithuania, where energy independence and security have been national priorities for over a decade. In October 2024, the company also signed a deal with Gasfin to construct a 50 MW heater facility in Brunsbuettel, marking its first major contract in the area.
This contract underscores MT Group's commitment to supporting Germany's strategic energy security and its efforts to reduce reliance on pipeline gas from Russia and to support energy transition goals. The Brunsbuettel FSRU Terminal, with its flexible and relatively rapid LNG imports, enhances Germany's capacity to secure gas supplies beyond pipeline routes, contributing to a more resilient and secure energy future for the country.
