Launch of Nintendo's First Game Developed by Mario Party Creators on Switch 2: Introducing Welcome Tour, a Controversial and Polarizing Tech Demo

The Nintendo Switch 2 has recently welcomed a new addition to its growing library of games, the Nintendo Welcome Tour. Despite appearing like a bundled-in tech demo, this game is sold separately, priced at $10.

Nintendo Welcome Tour, developed by Nintendo Cube, is not to be confused with the Nintendo Cube, a device from Nintendo's past. The development of this game by Nintendo Cube, a studio known for its pedigree in creating games, makes it a suitable choice for handling a game like Nintendo Welcome Tour.

The focus now has shifted from Nintendo Welcome Tour to expanding the GameCube classics lineup on the new hardware. The Nintendo Classics collection, launched alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, offers enhanced versions of classic GameCube games with improved resolution and image quality for Switch 2 users with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.

Key titles already released or available at launch include The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, SOULCALIBUR II, Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem, and more. This lineup is expected to expand periodically with more GameCube classics added to the Switch Online library on Switch 2.

In addition to these classic GameCube games, Nintendo has announced several new titles for the Nintendo Switch 2. Some of these include Donkey Kong Bananza, Super Mario Party Jamboree, WILD HEARTS S, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, PATAPON 1+2 REPLAY, and The Wandering Village, all set to release in July 2025.

While Nintendo Welcome Tour may not offer a truly engaging gaming experience, according to our review, it serves as a good way to learn about the features of the Nintendo Switch 2 as a product. It is the most recent game developed by Nintendo Cube, as per its Japanese website, which also develops games like Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, Everybody 1-2 Switch, and Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics.
