Launches National Data Centre in Vietnam
Vietnam's National Data Centre: A Green and Sustainable Hub for Digital Transformation
Vietnam is making a significant stride in digital transformation and sustainability with the development of green data centres, as encouraged by the government. One such example is the National Data Centre, located in Hoa Lac High-tech Park.
Built over 20 hectares, the National Data Centre is the first in the country to receive the highest level of international certification. The construction process, which took nearly two years, was followed by an impressive unveiling ceremony, where 21 platforms, digital products, and core utilities were introduced.
The growth of data centres in Vietnam is driven by the increasing demand for AI development, data services, and sustainable infrastructure. The National Data Centre, considered the "heart" of digital transformation, is equipped with a system of synchronous and modern equipment, designed to meet disaster resilience and high levels of security and safety.
South Korea's LG CNS is set to develop a hyperscale AI data centre in Vietnam, further fuelling the growth of the green data centre market in the country. The market is poised for rapid growth due to government mandates, rising cloud adoption, and investment in sustainable infrastructure.
The National Data Centre is anticipated to benefit individuals and businesses by saving time and costs in administrative procedures. It is also expected to contribute to realizing the aspiration of building a strong, civilized, and prosperous country, as outlined by the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Chinh, who considers developing science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation a strategic priority.
In line with this, the Ministry of Public Security plans to build two more centres under the National Data Centre. However, the specifics regarding the planning of these centres are yet to be specified.
Meanwhile, a consortium has proposed a $2 billion hyperscale data centre in Ho Chi Minh City for AI development and data services, further solidifying Vietnam's position as a prime data centre investment destination in Asia-Pacific, offering the second-highest yield-on-cost after Singapore.
Moreover, the ESG report by Bridge Data Centres outlines ambitious sustainability goals across APAC operations, aligning with Vietnam's commitment to promoting digital transformation and sustainability. The National Data Centre, with its commitment to green technology and sustainable practices, is a testament to this commitment.
