Leapmotor introduces extended-range versions of the C16 SUV models
In a move to enhance the driving range and interior flexibility of its electric vehicle (EV) offerings, Leapmotor has unveiled significant upgrades for its C16 long-range BEV variants. Launched in June 2024, the updated models now boast larger lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs with capacities of 74.9 kWh and 81.9 kWh, offering impressive CLTC rated driving ranges of 580 km and 630 km, respectively.
These upgrades make the C16 more practical for daily use, reducing the need for frequent charging. The vehicle also retains a spacious interior with new 5-seat and upgraded 6-seat configurations, built on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture that enhances its performance and efficiency.
Pricing for the 2026 Leapmotor C16 BEV variants ranges between RMB 151,800 and RMB 181,800 (approximately USD 21,100 to 25,300), inclusive of the new battery options and seating layouts.
Leapmotor's efforts to improve driving range and interior flexibility while maintaining competitive pricing in the EV market are evident in these upgrades. The company delivered a total of 293,724 vehicles for the full year 2024, marking an increase of 103.76 percent.
The C16, measuring 4,915 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,770 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, is also available in EREV options. Single-month deliveries of the C16 exceeded 7,000 in September-November, and the model set a new record for the company with 42,517 cars delivered in December.
Customers who order and take delivery of the long-range BEV variants before January 31 will receive a discount of RMB 5,000, a RMB 5,000 interest reduction on financing, a RMB 5,000 trade-in subsidy, and a RMB 7,000 option subsidy.
Leapmotor's vehicle deliveries are quoted in RMB, with 1 USD equivalent to RMB 7.3261. The higher priced variant of the C16 long-range includes a 128-channel LiDAR.
By adding these new BEV variants to its six-seat SUV model, the C16, Leapmotor aims to cater to potential customers looking for longer range.
