Lightning Strikes Add Excitement to Disney's CinemaCon Showcase
Thunderbolts' Chaotic Disruption: Disney's latest CinemaCon frenzy showcases the slightly rebellious Marvel Studios' blockbuster, Thunderbolts! Gearing up for a theater release on May 2nd, the misfit squad is back with a vengeance, and we've got some spoilers on the returning cast for Avengers: Doomsday set to hit cinemas in May 2026.
A catchy tune from Starship echoes through the radio as Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) cruise around in a white truck, discussing their duplicative supersuits. It turns out Guardian's suit is a Russian copy of Bucky's authentic Hydra suit, and they banter about their shared heritage. Sneakily hidden in the truck, Yelena (Florence Pugh), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Walker engage in their own stealthy conversation about fashion and helmets.
"Alright, do you like the hat?" Yelena asks Walker. "I call it a helmet," he replies, but if she wants to label it a hat, that's cool with him. They continue strategizing, and Bucky decides to crash the truck into a building. "I like this plan," Guardian proudly declares before the chaos bubbles over.
A leviathan brawl breaks out as each hero gets their kick in using their signature moves. Just as the battle reaches its peak, a voice booms overhead. "I just put that drywall in," Valentina says, mocking the destruction. "I left the door open, come on up."
They ascend in an elevator that opens to the top of Avengers Tower, where they get into it with Valentina, causing quite the ruckus given the tower's previous, storied history in the MCU[3][4]. Walker believes they're there to take her in, but Valentina isn't going anywhere willingly. She begins mocking each character and reveals her plan to kill them all, only to change her mind and offer them a chance to form a team instead[5].
Just as they try to capture her, a floating figure appears in the air, surrounded by helicopters, suggesting Sentry might be joining the fray[6]. They find themselves in handcuffs, and Yelena jumps off a building in a daring escape[7]. It's revealed that the Avengers have vanished, leaving these misfits to pick up the mantle[8].
"Not super, not heroes, not giving up" is the memorable tagline as Guardian rallies the team to take on whatever comes their way. Thunderbolts stars an eclectic ensemble, including Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Lewis Pullman.
Behind the scenes photos from Thunderbolts also surfaced today[9]. Keep an eye out for the latest updates on Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, DC, and Doctor Who[10].
