Long-awaited Merchandise Arrives for the New Cast Members of Doctor Who
Bustin' Out the New Gear!
Step aside, remote control Daleks, because it's time for some fresh merchandise! The BBC has finally unveiled action figures of our 15th Doctor and his pal Ruby Sunday, set to hit the shelves later this year. You can preorder these bad boys in a few weeks from Character Options, one of the show's longest-standing license holders.
The special "Vortex Collection" set will feature the Doctor and Ruby, decked out in accessorized looks inspired by their appearances in the 2023 Christmas special, "The Church on Ruby Road." Ruby comes with her phone and a shoulder bag, but it's the Doctor's goodies that really catch the eye. He'll be sporting his psychic paper, the latest version of the Sonic Screwdriver, and an oh-so-hilarious landmine - just like the one from the best episode of his debut season, "Boom!" Now, you can perfectly recreate the Doctor standing still on a landmine on your shelf. Don't worry about the movement - action figures, ya know?
These fantastically designed figures boast improved articulation and some impressive likenesses of Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson. Gone are the days of Destroyed Cassandra and David Tennant figures with necks bigger than small countries! Despite arriving a bit late after the latest season wrapped up, let's hope this sets the stage for a flurry of cool Doctor Who merchandise. There were some epic designs in the show - from the Doctor's season to the 60th-anniversary specials - that are just begging to be transformed into killer figures. How about Planet of the Racist TikToker-eating space slug figures with an openable mouth to stuff a figure in?
The "Vortex Collection" set will be available for preorder starting October 17, going for £40 (around $50). Separate retail versions of the figures in different colors will launch later in the year.
