Long Thanh Airport Marks Milestone With First Calibration Flight
Long Thanh International Airport has reached a significant milestone with the first test and calibration flight conducted on 26 September 2024. A Beechcraft King Air 300 series aircraft took off from Tan Son Nhat International Airport and operated flights at Long Thanh, including runway approaches on Runway 1.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) had given the green light for calibration flights to begin after an inspection on 24 September 2024, confirming the airport's conditions were suitable. These calibration flights, set to continue until 24 October 2025, involve both domestic and international specialists. The flight marked a crucial technical step in preparing Long Thanh International Airport for operations scheduled to commence in December 2026.
The calibration activities are being conducted with close coordination between the flight crew and ground technical teams. Their aim is to evaluate and ensure the reliability of systems and equipment supporting flight operations at the new airport.
The successful first calibration flight at Long Thanh International Airport signals the airport's readiness for future operations. With ongoing calibration flights until October 2025, the airport is on track to begin operations as planned in December 2026.
