Mahindra NU_IQ Platform: Essential Insights Revealed
Mahindra Unveils NU_IQ Platform for Four New SUVs
Mahindra & Mahindra, India's leading utility vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled its latest innovation - the NU_IQ platform. This groundbreaking platform is a crucial part of Mahindra's most ambitious global strategy and is set to underpin four new SUVs expected to launch starting from 2027, with some possibly arriving as early as late 2026.
The NU_IQ platform is designed to accommodate SUVs measuring between 4.3 and 4.5 metres in length with a 2.6-metre wheelbase. The platform supports multiple body styles and powertrains, including internal combustion engines and all-electric systems, making it versatile enough to cater to diverse markets.
The NU_IQ platform is built for next-generation tech integration, featuring connected features, cloud support, and future-ready digital interfaces. It also promises strong SUV capability on rough terrain with a 227 mm ground clearance, a 28-degree approach angle, a 28.2-degree breakover angle, and a 34.9-degree departure angle.
Four concepts have been revealed on the NU_IQ platform: Vision S, Vision T, Vision SXT, and Vision X. The Vision S is expected to become the new-generation Scorpio-badged SUV, likely the first to launch. It is a compact SUV with a boxy stance similar to the Vision S concept and is estimated to launch around the second half of 2026 or in 2027.
The Vision X is expected to spawn the new-generation XUV3OO and XUV500 models. The Vision T and Vision SXT will be new versions of the Thar and a model referred to as Thar Roxx respectively. All these SUVs will be mid-size C-segment models, featuring a flexible monocoque chassis supporting multiple powertrains, a flat-floor design for enhanced interior space and boot capacity, high ground clearance, 5-link rear suspension for a smooth ride and improved body control, and next-gen integrated digital architecture called NU_UX for interior interface.
The NU_IQ platform serves both right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive markets with one foundation. It is designed to blend versatility, safety, off-road ability, and premium design into a singular and scalable architecture. The platform's flat floor ensures rear-seat passengers enjoy more comfort, with a second-row legroom of 937 mm. Shoulder room for rear occupants is 1404 mm.
Mahindra aims for 5-star ratings in both Global NCAP and Euro NCAP tests with the NU_IQ platform. Boot space in NU_IQ is rated at 450 litres up to the seatback and 644 litres up to the roof.
In summary, the Mahindra NU_IQ platform is a game-changer in the automotive industry, promising to deliver versatility, safety, off-road ability, and premium design in a scalable architecture. The four SUVs based on this platform are poised to redefine the C-segment market in the coming years.
