Forget the traditional banking route - the new wave is digital and it's all about mobile apps! In a recent survey by Postbank, an astounding 81.7% of respondents use banking apps, either regularly or occasionally, while a surprising 18.3% have no interest in them whatsoever.

But what's causing this shift to mobile banking? Security concerns, apparently, are holding some people back. Thomas Brosch, head of digital sales at Postbank, assures us, "Banking via smartphone is just as secure as on a home computer."

The survey, conducted by YouGov, polled 2060 individuals over the age of 18, revealed that, unsurprisingly, banking apps are particularly popular among the millennial crowd. A whopping 89.8% of 25 to 34-year-olds use apps for banking, whereas the older generation, aged 55 and over, is significantly less likely, with 63.1% using them.

When it comes to cold, hard cash, the ATM remains king with 64% using it daily. Just under 14.4% mainly withdraw cash at the checkout while shopping, while 6.7% pop by their bank branch. Interestingly, 9.7% interviewed in the survey have actually claimed to be cashless!

Germany's banking ecosystem is a complex tapestry, woven with various service providers like traditional banks, neo-banks, and fintechs, utilizing diverse technologies like NFC and QR codes. As fintech innovation and big tech integration continue to reshape the mobile payment landscape, older generations are increasingly warming up to this digital revolution.
