Marco Polo Marine's CSOV Plus: A Versatile Vessel for Renewable Energy and Oil & Gas Sectors

Marco Polo Marine, a leading player in the offshore vessel industry, has announced plans to build, own, and operate its first Commissioning Service Operations Vessel (CSOV) in Asia. The vessel, named the CSOV Plus, is being developed in collaboration with Salt Ship Design and will be built by Strategic Marine.

Construction of the CSOV Plus is set to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with completion scheduled for the second quarter of 2028. This state-of-the-art vessel is designed to serve both the renewable energy and oil & gas markets, integrating advanced wind farm support with other proven oil & gas related capabilities.

The CSOV Plus will be equipped with a battery-hybrid power system, engines ready for alternative fuels such as methanol, a 100-tonne active heave-compensated crane, and an enhanced walk-to-work system. These features are aimed at maximizing operational uptime and setting new industry standards for crew comfort and safety.

According to Sean Lee, the CEO of Marco Polo Marine, the CSOV Plus is a direct response to market demands for more efficient offshore assets. He believes that the vessel offers significant competitive advantages by maximizing operational uptime.

The CSOV Plus is expected to support the complete lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from construction to repairs, maintenance, and technician transfer. In fact, the first CSOV built by Marco Polo Marine started generating income for the Group after being deployed for work in mid-April.

Vestas, a leading wind energy solutions provider, has already booked the new vessel for deployment on renewable energy projects in the Asia Pacific region. This demonstrates the confidence the industry has in Marco Polo Marine's innovative approach to offshore vessel design and operation.

The deal was signed by Marco Polo Marine's subsidiaries PKR Offshore and Marco Polo Shipyard. The CSOV Plus will also be capable of deployment in the oil & gas sector, further expanding its versatility and potential for revenue generation.

Marco Polo Marine's CSOV Plus is poised to exceed customers' expectations and become a game-changer in the offshore vessel industry. With its advanced features and versatile design, it is set to revolutionize the way renewable energy and oil & gas projects are managed offshore.
