Mario vs. Luigi Competitive Kart Racing Makes Its Debut with N64's Mario Raceway

The Mario vs. Luigi Tour, a limited-time event in the popular Mario KartTM Tour game, is now underway and runs until June 27, 2023 at 10:59 p.m. PT. This exciting event introduces significantly updated versions of classic courses such as Luigi Circuit and Mario Circuit, alongside new visual and gameplay features.

Key new additions and updates include:

Luigi Circuit redesign: The course returns with a refreshed look, featuring a surrounding forest, towering snow-capped mountains, cloud breaks, and a thinner road width. The layout is simplified with fewer bends and less dramatic serpentine sections. New ramps and two big Piranha Plants appear in the "T" variant, and a glide ramp allows jumping over the finish line in the reversed and ramp variant. The blimp now resembles the Luigi Parafoil and flies above the track. The course has multiple variations: normal, reversed, with ramps, and reversed with ramps.

Mario Circuit update: Reintroduced as a retro course, it resembles the Wii version but with altered terrain colors and design elements inspired by the N64 and 3DS versions. It features sharp turns demanding high drifting skill. Notable additions include a central castle (Pitch’s Castle) with a boost ramp in front and a glide ramp at its exit, plus tow tubes and Goombas that affect gameplay. Off-road shortcuts near the tow tubes are blocked, increasing the challenge. Visual details such as full-bloom cherry blossoms enhance aesthetics.

These changes bring both visual enhancements and fresh gameplay elements, such as new ramps for gliding and adjusted shortcuts, to classic Mario Kart tracks, fitting the theme of the Mario vs. Luigi rivalry.

During the Mario vs. Luigi Tour, players can collect Team Points across various courses, including the new addition N64 Mario Raceway, aim for a high score, and enjoy endless racing fun with powerful items to use while racing. New in-game rewards include the 1-Up Mushroom Balloon, new gliders like the Red Emblem and Green Emblem, and the Monty Mole Mii Racing Suit and Waluigi Mii Racing Suit to freshen up their in-game Mii character wardrobe.

To play the Mario Kart Tour game, players need a persistent internet, compatible smart device, and Nintendo Account. Data charges may apply while playing. The game is free to start, but optional in-game purchases are available. For more information about the Mario Kart Tour game, visit the official site at mariokarttour.com.

City courses, special in-game event courses inspired by real-world locations, are available during specific time periods and take place every two weeks in the Mario Kart Tour game. Players can race in courses inspired by real-world locations and Mario Kart series favorites. Gearheads can check out new karts like the Gold Warrior Wagon, Silver Warrior Wagon, Black Shielded Speedster, Gold Shielded Speedster, and Waluigi Racer Mk.2. Terms apply to in-game purchases in the Mario Kart Tour game.

As the Mario vs. Luigi Tour continues, players can look forward to new challenges, updated courses, and the opportunity to collect and upgrade a variety of drivers, karts, and gliders. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting event!
