Delayed "Behemoth" Release: Meta's KI Model Falls Behind Schedule

Meta Delays AI Model Update - Stock Suffers Setback

The long-awaited KI model "Behemoth" on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram may not grace our screens until fall, at the earliest, as Meta faces setbacks in its development. The recent pushback in the release has sparked fears within the company about the direction of their billion-dollar KI investments.

Insiders reveal that engineers are confronting significant challenges in enhancing the language capabilities of "Behemoth," leading employees to question the model's revised improvements' significance. This skepticism has caused Meta's stock to plummet by 2.4% in after-hours trading.

Originally scheduled for an April release to coincide with Meta's first developer conference, "Behemoth" was pushed back to June internally. Now, it seems the groundbreaking update has been postponed until the fall or even later.

Meta's Stalled KI Progress

Previously celebrated for quickly catching up to its competitors in the KI race, Meta is now faltering in its advancements. The company intends to invest up to $72 billion this year, with a sizable portion destined for achieving CEO Mark Zuckerberg's ambitious KI goals.

Zuckerberg and other Meta execs have not publicly shared a timeline for "Behemoth." The company may opt for an early release, introducing a limited version to the public. Nevertheless, engineers are on edge due to concerns that "Behemoth" may not deliver on its promised capabilities, as per company sources.

Executives express discontent with the team responsible for creating the Llama KI models and are reportedly contemplating administrative restructuring within the KI product group.

The Commission might consider proposing a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, as Meta, responsible for Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, grapples with advancements in technology and artificial intelligence, such as its large-scale AI project "Behemoth." The stalled progress of "Behemoth" and the increasing skepticism within the company could potentially impact Meta's strategic plans and AI investments.
