Metaplanet Inc., a former Japanese hotel company, has made waves in the cryptocurrency world. The company's CEO, Simon Gerovich, has steered it towards becoming a major player in bitcoin holdings. Its proprietary BTC Yield metric has surged to 121.1% YTD, and it now ranks among the top 10 publicly listed bitcoin holders globally.

Metaplanet's latest move involves acquiring an additional 145 bitcoin, boosting its total to 5,000 BTC. The company's aggressive accumulation strategy follows a successful capital raise in mid-2024, dubbed 'Asia's largest-ever' bitcoin-focused raise. Gerovich sees this acquisition as a significant step towards Metaplanet's goal of holding 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026.

Metaplanet's total bitcoin treasury is now worth $428.1 million, with an average acquisition cost of $85,621 per coin. The company's strategy mirrors that of U.S.-based Strategy, reflecting growing institutional interest in bitcoin. Despite its recent success, the founder of Metaplanet Inc. remains largely unknown to the public.

With its latest acquisition, Metaplanet Inc. continues its aggressive accumulation of bitcoin. Its total bitcoin treasury is now worth hundreds of millions of dollars, reflecting the company's commitment to the cryptocurrency. As bitcoin price fluctuates, Metaplanet's strategy remains focused on long-term growth and becoming one of the world's leading bitcoin holding companies.
