Miami-Dade TV Taps PlayBox Neo to Enhance Broadcast System Infrastructure
Miami-Dade TV (MDTV) has updated its playout as part of a comprehensive broadcast infrastructure modernization project, with the PlayBox Neo system now at the heart of its operations.
According to Shawn Hinchey, chief of digital media services at Miami-Dade County, the solution needed to integrate seamlessly with MDTV's existing infrastructure and provide a robust and intuitive interface for the team.
The PlayBox Neo system, installed by Enlighten Digital, has been instrumental in enhancing MDTV's workflow. The update included a revamp of key components of MDTV's HD/4K production and transmission environment, including master control.
The PlayBox Neo system handles both live signal switching and the insertion of prerecorded segments. It automates the playout of MDTV's programming across its broadcast channels and streaming platforms. The new workflow uses AirBox Neo servers for playout.
The system supports a hybrid SDI/IP workflow, a key feature for modern broadcast and streaming environments. It also includes the Multi-Backup Manager (MBM) for multichannel redundancy, ensuring uninterrupted service.
The PlayBox Neo setup includes eight channels that interface directly with MDTV's routing switcher. The Live Ingest controller allows for efficient scheduling of recordings, while ListBox Neo is part of the setup for schedule creation and editing. TitleBox Neo, an interactive CG, is also included in the setup.
The PlayBox Neo system's 24-hour daily playlists can be easily built in ListBox Neo and transitioned into AirBox Neo for playout. This streamlined process simplifies and improves the management and delivery of content, making the broadcast process more efficient and reliable.
