Minecraft Resurrects Defeated Mob Vote Option and Makes Copper Significant in 2025's Third Update
Minecraft enthusiasts, get ready for an exciting update! Scheduled for July 2025, the upcoming Minecraft release brings a host of new features, including copper tools, weapons, armor, and chests. This update aims to revamp the early game progression by introducing a new tier between stone and iron tools.
The highlight of this update is the much-anticipated Copper Golem, a new metallic friend joining the Iron Golem protectors in Minecraft. Crafted by placing a carved pumpkin on top of a copper block (much like Snow and Iron Golems), the Copper Golem helps in sorting items automatically inside nearby copper chests. Over time, the Copper Golem develops a patina, giving it a worn look which can be preserved with wax or allowed to evolve naturally.
The update also introduces a new chest variant, the copper chest, which interacts with the Copper Golem. Copper Golems will move items from copper chests to regular chests in the area, ensuring order and organisation in your base.
Mojang Studios has been working hard to expand copper's role in gameplay and mining, transforming it from a decorative resource to a more valuable and functional one. This update is a testament to that effort, with copper blocks, including copper chests, oxidising and turning green over time unless waxed to preserve their sheen.
The first Minecraft Preview build testing these new features, including the Copper Golem, has already been released. Players can download the release on Xbox, Windows PC, or Android devices to get a sneak peek of what's to come. A Minecraft: Java Edition snapshot is also coming soon, but players will have to wait a while longer.
It's worth noting that the Minecraft Mob Vote, an annual event for Minecraft Live, has been discontinued. However, Mojang Studios is considering bringing other Mob Vote losers to Minecraft and working to empty the vault.
