Mira Security, a firm specializing in traffic visibility solutions, has been acquired by Darktrace.
Darktrace Acquires Mira Security to Bolster Network Security for Regulated Industries
Darktrace, a leading cybersecurity AI company, has announced the acquisition of Mira Security, a specialist in decryption technology for network traffic. This deal marks a significant step forward in Darktrace's mission to deliver best-in-class AI-driven security solutions, particularly for regulated industries like financial services and government.
Phil Pearson, Chief Strategy Officer at Darktrace, stated that the acquisition of Mira Security is a part of their strategy to develop top-tier cybersecurity solutions. He explained, "Mira Security's in-line decryption technology will enhance our ability to detect threats hidden within encrypted data flows, providing deeper visibility into encrypted network traffic."
The integration of Mira Security's decryption capabilities will unlock greater security performance for Darktrace's customers. Niel Viljoen, Founder and CEO of Mira Security, expressed that together, Mira Security and Darktrace will be able to deliver new value for customers and partners.
Mira Security's engineering team will join Darktrace's R&D division, bringing expertise in network acceleration technology. This will support Darktrace's next-generation hardware developments, enabling ultrafast 100 Gbps interfaces and higher data ingestion capacity. This scalability ensures that large enterprise and government networks can maintain thorough security postures even under heavy network loads.
The collaboration aims to advance Darktrace's hardware capabilities for 100 Gbps interfaces, addressing a critical challenge—the encrypted data blind spot—without degrading network performance or requiring complex infrastructure changes.
The acquisition enhances Darktrace's network security by improving insights from encrypted traffic. Darktrace has previously acquired Cado Security and launched new AI models for enhanced threat response. This move further strengthens Darktrace's position in the cybersecurity market, particularly for regulated industries.
Darktrace has also confirmed that the deal does not affect the support provided to current Mira Security partners. The company remains committed to continuous innovation for the benefit of their customers, as demonstrated by their previous acquisitions and AI model launches.
The acquisition of Mira Security significantly enhances network security, especially for regulated industries like financial services and government, by providing deeper visibility into encrypted network traffic and more comprehensive decryption capabilities. This integration addresses a critical challenge—the encrypted data blind spot—without degrading network performance or requiring complex infrastructure changes.
