Mogu Launches WeShop AI: China's First AI E-commerce Photography Tool
Mogu, a Chinese fashion e-commerce company, has launched WeShop AI, the country's first AI-powered e-commerce photography tool. The platform uses the Stable Diffusion model to generate high-quality images at scale, reducing merchants' reliance on traditional photography methods.
WeShop AI's popularity has surged following the success of OpenAI's ChatGPT, sparking significant interest in AI applications in China. The tool allows users to generate up to 2,000 images per month with its basic package, costing around RMB 298. Users can modify images by changing backgrounds and model types to meet specific requirements.
With nearly 10,000 registered users, WeShop AI caters primarily to cross-border merchants with unique model requirements. It can produce six common types of e-commerce images without the need for real models or extensive post-production work. This innovation has significantly reduced merchants' commercial photography expenses, which typically account for about 2% of their gross merchandise value (GMV).
Mogu's expertise in the fashion industry and extensive product data facilitated the swift launch of WeShop AI. The company joins other Chinese businesses, such as Alibaba with its Qwen3-Max, in exploring large-scale AI models for innovative applications like the Miaoya camera.
WeShop AI, launched by Mogu in April 2023, has revolutionized e-commerce photography in China. By harnessing the power of generative AI, the platform enables merchants to create high-quality images at scale, reducing costs and streamlining their operations. As AI continues to gain traction in China, WeShop AI stands as a testament to the innovative potential of the technology in the e-commerce sector.
