Take Note: Majority of Germans Prefer Mobile Banking Apps, Yet Older Demographic Lags Behind
Majority Prefer Mobile Apps for Principal Banking Transactions, According to Postbank Survey - Most individuals rely on mobile apps for executing their banking activities, according to a Postbank survey.
Here's the shocker: One-seventh of survey participants express zero interest in banking through apps, while a smidgen over five percent are open to the concept, but haven't dipped their toes yet. According to Thomas Brosch, head honcho of digital sales at Postbank, this resistance to digital banking often stems from security concerns. Yet, rest assured, mobile banking is as secure as transacting on your ol' trusty home computer.
Interest in digital banking skyrockets among the youth. More than four out of five 25 to 34-year-olds aren't shy about using banking apps, either frequently or occasionally. In stark contrast, the older crowd average at around 63.1 percent.
When it comes to getting greenbacks, the ATM remains the king. Six-four percent of us hit the ATM daily, while 14.4 percent opt for withdrawing cash at self-checkouts. A scant 6.7 percent trot off to the bank, and an even rarer 9.7 percent claim they can live without cold, hard cash.
The market research institute YouGov polled 2060 Germans aged 18 and up online between March 21 and 24, on behalf of Postbank.
