MrBeast Addresses Privacy Concerns, Aligns with COPPA After CARU Findings
YouTube star Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, faced criticism recently for violating privacy guidelines and potentially breaching the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA) on his channel and Feastables website.
In 2019, the Children's Advertising Review Unit (CARU) discovered that MrBeast's channel had violated privacy guidelines. The issues stemmed from sweepstakes competitions that required children under 13 to provide personal information without parental consent. Additionally, the Feastables website improperly collected and shared email addresses and phone numbers with third parties.
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has since worked with CARU to rectify these issues. The popular YouTuber has updated his channel's data collection practices to align with CARU's guidelines and COPPA regulations. Feastables also issued a statement acknowledging CARU's concerns and committing to consider them in future advertisements.
MrBeast's violations of privacy guidelines and potential COPPA breaches have been addressed. The YouTuber has taken steps to rectify the issues and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Both MrBeast's channel and Feastables website now operate with improved data collection practices.
