National Propane Day Highlights Clean, Reliable School Bus Fuel

On October 7, National Propane Day highlights the benefits of propane autogas for school transportation, particularly during power outages or severe weather. The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) hosts the event at their Richmond, Virginia offices, encouraging directors to consider this reliable and clean energy source.

Propane autogas offers numerous advantages for school bus fleets. It is stored on-site, does not degrade, and is not reliant on the power grid, ensuring it remains ready during widespread disruptions. Over 22,000 propane autogas school buses are already in operation across the US, demonstrating its resilience.

Moreover, propane autogas produces up to 96 percent fewer nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions than diesel, contributing to better air quality. It also offers lower fuel and maintenance costs, making it an economical choice. Additionally, propane-powered EV charging systems can keep electric school buses charged even when the grid is down, providing a comprehensive solution.

National Propane Day not only promotes the use of propane autogas in school transportation but also celebrates the professionals who make clean transportation possible. These include delivery drivers and service technicians who ensure the reliable supply and maintenance of propane autogas. By adopting propane autogas, school districts can enhance their energy resilience and contribute to cleaner air.
