NetEase Shuts Down Austin Game Studio T-Minus Zero
NetEase has shut down its Austin-based game studio, T-Minus Zero Entertainment, founded in September 2023. The studio was led by industry veterans from BioWare and Bethesda.
The closure was announced by co-founder Rich Vogel on LinkedIn on August 26. Despite NetEase providing ample resources and the team making encouraging progress, including developing a playable demo, the studio was unable to secure sufficient funding due to the current stock market conditions. NetEase is now reassessing its strategic priorities following the closure. NetEase had financed the studio and later decided to shut it down after careful consideration.
T-Minus Zero Entertainment's closure comes as a setback for NetEase's gaming expansion plans. The studio's progress and the resources provided by NetEase suggest a promising future that was cut short by the current stock market.
