Nissan's New Compact SUV, Tekton, Set for 2026 India Debut
Nissan is set to introduce the Tekton, a compact SUV, under the Datsun brand in global markets. The vehicle, derived from the Greek word for craftsman or builder, will make its debut in India before expanding worldwide.
The Tekton boasts a Nissan-specific front end design, complete with C-shaped LED headlights and a chrome grille. It rides on the versatile CMF-B underpinnings, shared with several Renault, Mitsubishi, and Nissan models in Europe. Notably, the Tekton is a rebadged version of the latest Dacia Duster, currently sold in India under the Renault badge.
Set to compete against models like the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos, the Tekton is expected to make a significant impact in the compact SUV segment. Nissan has teased the new SUV ahead of its official unveiling in India in 2026, with sales commencing the same year.
The Tekton, with its Patrol / Armada-inspired styling, promises a more premium look and feel. Its global debut in India in 2026 is eagerly anticipated, as Nissan aims to strengthen its presence in the compact SUV market.
