Chinese players of World of Warcraft are catching up to their global counterparts following a brief shutdown of the game's servers, as they prepare for an exciting lineup of content updates.

In a recent livestream celebrating the game's 20th anniversary, hosted by NetEase, the operator of World of Warcraft's Chinese server, developers from Blizzard Entertainment discussed future content for the Chinese version of the game. One of the highlights was the announcement of the Titan Reforged Server, an exclusive server for China that combines the content from vanilla World of Warcraft, The Burning Legion, and Wrath of the Lich King into a single game mode.

The Titan Reforged Server offers a unique experience, with players having accelerated levelling, akin to a "raid rush". All classic gear, tier sets, and reputations will scale, and all class talents, spells, and abilities will use their Lv. 80 versions. This server also provides Chinese players with an opportunity to earn mounts and experience community events they weren't able to during the shutdown.

Another exciting development is the upcoming release of World of Warcraft: The War Within's third major patch update, which Chinese players will get to experience on August 14, 2025.

The livestream also hinted at Legion Remix, a new expansion similar to Mists of Pandaria Remix, which Chinese players will be able to participate in. Legion Remix will introduce a Diablo-inspired, new tier of open-world difficulty called "Shattered Timeline".

In a significant move, World of Warcraft: Midnight is scheduled for a global release along with the rest of the world, with no specific delay mentioned for China. This marks an improvement in synchronized worldwide availability after past delays linked to the Activision Blizzard-NetEase licensing situation in China.

Meanwhile, other expansions such as Mists of Pandaria Classic will release in most of the world on July 21, 2025, but China will receive it later, between winter 2025 and early spring 2026.

During the livestream, developers from Blizzard Entertainment thanked the Chinese fanbase, and a drone show themed around World of Warcraft took place in Shenzhen, China, recreating characters from the game like Arthas, Xal'atath, Chen Stormstout, and Alexstrasza. The show formed a dragon from the Mists of Pandaria expansion and a logo of World of Warcraft's 20th Anniversary.

Chinese players can also look forward to speed levelling their characters through the World of Warcraft Classic: Cataclysm expansion. With these exciting updates, the future of World of Warcraft in China is looking brighter than ever.

The grand reveal for World of Warcraft: Midnight will take place at Gamescom on August 19, 2025, showcasing the opening cinematic, gameplay details, public demos for player housing, and more. Get ready, Chinese players, for an unforgettable journey ahead!
