Older wireless chargers may not be compatible with the Pixel 10, potentially causing functioning problems.

The Google Pixel 10 lineup, one of the first major Android phones to adopt the Qi 2 wireless charging standard, known as Pixelsnap, has been the subject of some charging-related concerns.

While the Qi 2 standard is backward-compatible with older standards, it seems that not all devices are optimized for older Qi wireless charging standards. According to a Google spokesperson, the Pixel 10 lineup is not optimized for these older standards.

One common issue reported by users is slower charging speeds when charging the phone horizontally with the first-generation Pixel Stand, even with a case on. Interestingly, the author of this article, who owns both the first- and second-generation Pixel Stands, has found that they can charge the Pixel 10 Pro XL without issue when the phone is case-free. However, when a case is added to the phone, charging issues begin, specifically when attempting to charge the phone vertically.

Removing the case might help resolve these issues, but the author has not been able to find a solution for charging issues with the Pixel Stand 2, regardless of the orientation of the phone.

Not everyone experiences these charging issues with the Pixel 10. Patrick Holland, a fellow user, reports no such problems.

The phone's height and the placement of the charging coil on both the phone and the charger can still affect wireless charging performance. To ensure optimal wireless charging speed with the Pixel 10, replacing older wireless chargers with newer ones might be necessary.

Companies like Belkin and Ugreen currently manufacture wireless charging stands compatible with the Qi 2.2 standard, enabling efficient charging of Pixel 10 smartphones with up to 25 watts power and improved alignment via magnetic positioning.

It's worth noting that some users have reported issues with the wireless charging of the Google Pixel 10, including problems with the Pixelsnap charger and Google's own Pixel Stands. The majority of these issues occur when a case is on the phone, regardless of whether it has a magnet array or not.

The author of this article uses three cases for their phone: the Mous Super Thin Clear Case, the Magnetic Slim Case Fit by Grecazo, and a no-name soft TPU case. When charging the phone vertically with any of these cases, the phone starts to charge and then stops after a second or two, and this behavior continues. The author can resolve this issue for the first-generation Pixel Stand by turning the phone horizontal, but the issue persists with the Pixel Stand 2, regardless of the orientation.

In conclusion, while the Google Pixel 10 lineup offers the Qi 2 wireless charging standard, users may encounter charging issues, particularly when using cases and older wireless chargers. Upgrading to Qi 2.2 compatible chargers and removing cases, where possible, may help alleviate these issues.
