Vodafone Expands Fiber Optic Network Across Germany

Vodafone, a leading communications conglomerate in Germany, is making significant strides in expanding its fiber optic network across the country. The construction and operation of the fiber optic network is currently underway in five out of six project areas, with the remaining customers in the Cham district expected to be online by the end of 2026.

The company's machine network (Narrowband IoT) already functions on more than 97% of the German surface, providing a robust foundation for the Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

One of the latest expansion projects is in partnership with Primevest Capital Partners, focusing on Roding and Furth im Wald. This project aims to provide fast internet to around 6,000 households and business units, with the groundwork already completed, and the majority of all customers already connected. Already, approximately 7,500 households in the first four project areas are surfing in the high-speed network.

The Düsseldorf-based company adds around 500 new customers in the Cham district to the fastest and most modern network in Germany every month. This expansion is delivering nearly comprehensive coverage with gigabit-speed internet, essential for the future development of the economic region, according to Landrat Franz Löffler, the head of the Cham district.

Vodafone is committed to sustainability, aiming to be CO2-neutral by 2025 and emission-free by 2040. The company has increased its connection capacities to speed up the process of getting all remaining customers online, and its power demand is covered 100% by renewable energies.

The company also values diversity and inclusion, offering measures for reconciling family and career, networks for women, fathers, or LGBT+, and respecting and valuing all people regardless of ethnic origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, belief, culture, or religion.
