Peptech Biosciences Limited Successfully Acquires Technological Rights for Bt-Based Biopesticide from NBAIR

Peptech Biosciences Ltd., a rapidly growing B2B agri-biotech company, has made a significant stride in the agricultural sector with the acquisition of biopesticide technology from NBAIR. This technology enables the production of a liquid formulation of the Bacillus thuringiensis biopesticide, a promising solution for sustainable crop protection.

Based in India, Peptech Biosciences specializes in research-driven crop solutions, offering an extensive portfolio that includes Bio-Fertilizers, Bio-Stimulants, Bio-Pesticides, and Plant Growth Regulators. The company's Bio-Pesticides range includes Beauveria bassiana and Azadirachtin, in addition to Bacillus thuringiensis, while the Bio-fungicides range includes Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma harzianum, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Bacillus subtilis.

The Bacillus thuringiensis biopesticide developed through this technology is toxic to various Lepidopteran pests, including H. armigera, P. xylostella, Chilo partellus, Sesamia inferens, Leucinodes orbonalis, and others affecting pulses, vegetables, and oilseeds. Field trials conducted by NBAIR showed that a 2% concentration of Bacillus thuringiensis NBAIR BtG4 in foliar sprays significantly reduced pod damage in pigeon pea. These findings suggest that the treatment could potentially minimize environmental impact while maintaining high crop productivity.

The successful acquisition and development of this biopesticide technology could lead to a shift towards more sustainable agricultural practices. The biopesticide is suitable for diverse agricultural environments, excluding temperate regions. The technology is environmentally safe and serves as a sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides.

Peptech Biosciences has over 250 product registrations under CIBRC, 50 under FCO, and 18 potential state permissions. The company's state-of-the-art, fully mechanized manufacturing facilities ensure the production of high-quality, effective biopesticides. A dedicated team of scientists at Peptech Biosciences works on pioneering advancements to meet the evolving needs of the agriculture industry.

Peptech Biosciences partners with medium- and large-sized agricultural brands worldwide, standing as a trusted partner for these brands. The treatment led to a substantial increase in grain yield, demonstrating the technology's potential to enhance crop productivity. Suresh Singla serves as the Director at Peptech Biosciences Ltd.

The acquisition of this technology by Peptech Biosciences is expected to contribute to the development of eco-friendly pest control solutions. As the world continues to grapple with the challenges of climate change and the need for sustainable agriculture, the development of such technologies is crucial for the future of agriculture.
