Phoenix: Plan Routes for Major Freeway Closures This Weekend
Motorists in the Phoenix metropolitan area should plan their routes carefully this weekend due to several freeway closures. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced closures on Loop 101 Pima Freeway and Loop 303 for maintenance and construction work.
Starting Friday night, drivers should expect closures on Loop 303 northbound lanes from 10 p.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. This is due to pavement sealing work. As an alternative, drivers can use Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway.
From 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, southbound lanes of Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed for a widening project. Drivers can use State Route 51, Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway, Scottsdale Road, or Shea Boulevard as alternate routes.
Over the weekend of October 3-6, 2025, both Loop 101 in Scottsdale and Loop 303 in the West Valley will have closures. However, specific details about these closures are not yet available.
ADOT advises drivers in the East and West Valley to adjust their travel plans accordingly. Eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Scottsdale and Hayden roads will also be closed during the Loop 101 Pima Freeway closure. For real-time traffic information, drivers can visit ADOT's website or follow their social media channels.
