Polestar's Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) encouragement initiative now offers a $5,000 discount, following the reduction of the iZEV rebate.

In response to the termination of the Canadian government's iZEV rebate program for electric vehicles due to exhausted funds, automaker Polestar has launched a new incentive for Canadian buyers. The Polestar ZEV support program offers a $5,000 rebate on new Polestar 2 purchases, valid until February 28, 2025.

Eligible individuals can benefit from this offer, with each individual limited to one credit. It's important to note that the Polestar credit cannot be combined with other Polestar offers and is deducted directly from the negotiated purchase price after taxes.

The Polestar ZEV support program is available only to residents of Canada who hold a valid Canadian driver's license. The offer applies only to new, in-stock 2025 Polestar 2 vehicles, and delivery of the vehicle must occur on or before February 28, 2025.

Moreover, the credit cannot be used for leased vehicles or model vehicles designated for promotional use. The offer cannot be applied retroactively to past transactions, and the purchase must be completed within the program's timeframe.

This new incentive is particularly attractive for Canadian buyers who previously declined the federal iZEV rebate due to its rapid depletion in early 2025, leaving a void in incentives for electric vehicle purchases.

Several other automakers, including General Motors, Nissan, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Kia, have also responded to the termination of the iZEV program by offering a $5,000 discount on some of their electric vehicles. Their offers expire on January 31, 2025.

The federal government announced that there was approximately $72 million left in the iZEV fund, enough for about 14,360 more $5,000 rebates. The iZEV program was paused indefinitely after funds were exhausted within just 2 days due to a rush of orders.

The Polestar ZEV support program runs from now until February 28, 2025, providing Canadian electric vehicle buyers with an attractive alternative to the iZEV rebate program.
