Police Investigate Investment Scam Targeting Kaiserslautern Man
Police in Westpfalz have launched an investigation into an alleged investment scam targeting a man from Kaiserslautern. The 64-year-old victim was lured into the scheme via a social media advertisement in June, resulting in significant financial losses.
The man, who has not been named, was invited to join a chat group and advised to download a special app for online stock trading. He invested several thousand euros in total, expecting substantial returns. However, he has not seen any profits from his investments.
The victim only realised he had been duped when he tried to withdraw his funds. He subsequently filed a complaint for fraud on Tuesday. The alleged scammer, a 63-year-old man from Westpfalz, has been accused of attempting to defraud the victim by persuading him to invest in stocks.
The criminal police are currently investigating the incident. No arrests have been made at this time. Authorities urge the public to be cautious when approached with investment opportunities online, especially those requiring immediate action or involving unregulated platforms.
