Airbus Securing a Potential Mega Deal with Chinese Airlines?

Potential Chinese Decision: Purchase of Over 500 Airbus Aircraft as Per Report by Bloomberg

Latest reports suggest that negotiations are in progress with Chinese airline companies regarding a potential order, as confirmed by sources privy to the matter. Insights indicate the deal could involve up to 500 aircraft - a mix of narrow-body and wide-body models. One source hinted that the deal might even stretch beyond the 500 mark.

The heavy focus appears to be on wide-body aircraft, according to reported chats with Bloomberg. Some plans may materialize for the A330neo. If the deal reaches the 500-jet mark, it could go down in history as one of the largest ever, eclipsing the $37 billion deal for approximately 300 narrow-body Airbus aircraft produced in 2022.

Negotiations have been described as "volatile", with the potential for the talks to falter or extend indefinitely. If successful, the deal might serve as a strategic move by Chinese President Xi Jinping to strike a contrast in trade talks with President Donald Trump.

Amid ongoing trade wars with the U.S., China placed a ban on its local airlines from accepting Boeing aircraft deliveries and purchasing aviation goods and parts from the American manufacturer in April. However, news broke in mid-May that Chinese authorities had reportedly lifted the ban on Boeing aircraft deliveries to local airlines following an agreement on trade tariffs with the U.S.
