Record-breaking Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut reaches 0 to 400 to 0 in astonishing 25.21 seconds, sets new world standard

Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Sets New 0-400-0 km/h World Record

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has made history by setting a new 0-400-0 km/h world record under sub-optimal conditions. This remarkable achievement has challenged conventional assumptions about performance technology, as a rear-wheel-drive combustion car surpassed several four-wheel-drive electric hypercars in straight-line tests.

The record-breaking performance is attributed to the application of the "Absolut Overdrive" software refinements, which have been implemented on the Jesko Absolut. These refinements have significantly improved the vehicle's acceleration and deceleration capabilities, reclaiming the 0-400-0 km/h record from competitors.

The "Absolut Overdrive" software refinements have made key specific improvements to the Jesko Absolut. Tweaked and adjusted Light Speed Transmission software now provides smoother and more responsive gear shifts, while the refined engine management system optimizes power delivery at high revs (up to 8,500 rpm). A new torque control system manages rear-wheel grip with exceptional precision, minimizing traction control intervention and increasing acceleration efficiency.

These refinements have given the combustion-engine Jesko Absolut torque control comparable to electric motors, a significant technological advancement in combustion-powered hypercars. The power output remains 1,578 bhp with 1,106 lb-ft torque, but the software optimizations enable better exploitation of this power on track.

In terms of design, the Jesko Absolut features an elongated tail section with twin vertical fins instead of a massive fixed rear wing. Power is delivered through Koenigsegg's nine-speed Light Speed Transmission, and the engine uses a lightweight flat-plane crankshaft weighing only 12.5 kilograms, which can rev to 8,500 rpm.

The bodywork of the Jesko Absolut has been refined through thousands of hours of computational fluid dynamics testing. Despite facing challenges due to a drying tarmac after rainfall, making acceleration and braking more challenging, the enhanced car delivered outstanding results. The Jesko Absolut achieved a zero to four hundred to zero km/h time of 25.21 seconds, a zero to four hundred km/h time of 16.77 seconds, and a four hundred to zero time of 8.44 seconds.

Christian von Koenigsegg, founder and CEO of Koenigsegg, praised the achievement, attributing it to synergies between engineering and development teams, cutting-edge software architecture, and class-leading mechanical solutions. The improvements will be rolled out to customer cars, and only 125 units of the Jesko Absolut and Attack versions are planned in total.

The Jesko Absolut is a road-legal hypercar introduced in 2020, specifically designed for speed. In imperial units, the car went from zero to 250 mph and back to zero in 25.67 seconds, shaving over two and a half seconds from the Jesko Absolut's record of 27.83 seconds set in 2024. The Jesko Absolut is the speed-oriented version of the Jesko, distinct from the track-focused Jesko Attack.
