Gemini App Updates Bring Quality-of-Life Improvements and Guided Learning Tool to Android and iOS

Starting from June, the Gemini app's quality-of-life improvements have been rolled out in the stable channel for Android users. These enhancements include a redesigned navigation drawer, making it easier to navigate the app and find chats.

The chat icon in the Gemini app has been replaced by a hamburger menu, opening a navigation drawer with a "Search for chats" field. This field allows users to quickly access their recent conversations. The navigation drawer also features a "New chat" shortcut, with "Temporary Chat" soon to appear to the right of it. "Recent" history rounds out the navigation drawer, with pinned conversations appearing first.

For iOS users, the navigation drawer redesign is still rolling out as of Thursday morning. However, the Guided Learning tool, previously only available on the web, is now accessible on both Android and iOS platforms. This feature, designed to facilitate step-by-step learning with integrated visuals, videos, and interactive quizzes, started rolling out on iOS in early to mid-August 2025.

Google has also added the ability to directly highlight and copy Gemini responses, similar to copying text from a webpage. Standard options like "Select all" are available, while the previous "Select [plain] text" interface remains in the three-dot overflow menu.

In addition, those on Google AI Pro and Ultra have gained an "Image" shortcut. On mobile, the Guided Learning tool is shortened to "Learn". Users can also find their two most recent "Gems" and a link to "Explore" in the navigation drawer.

If you don't have the Tools menu redesign yet, "Learn" appears as the first or second item (behind Video). Tapping the "Search for chats" field opens your keyboard with a list of 15 "Recent" conversations.
