Reducing prices to stimulate sales before closing the fiscal year, as announced by Polestar
In the rapidly evolving world of electric vehicles (EVs), two premium all-electric mid-size SUVs are set to make waves: the Zeekr 7X and the Polestar 3 and 4.
Specific Features of Zeekr 7X
The Zeekr 7X, launched in September 2024, boasts a dual-motor AWD setup with a peak power of 475 kW (approximately 637 hp) and torque of 710 Nm. This powerhouse propels the vehicle from 0-100 km/h in approximately 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h. The 100 kWh ternary lithium battery (NCM) supplied by Geely CATL ensures a solid foundation for performance, while liquid cooling keeps temperatures in check.
The Zeekr 7X offers an impressive electric range of around 541 km (WLTP) and up to 780 km (CLTC), depending on the trim. Its energy consumption is approximately 14.4 kWh/100 km under CLTC, with WLTP consumption slightly higher at about 17.4 kWh/100 km.
In terms of dimensions and design, the Zeekr 7X is a mid-size SUV with 5 doors, 5 seats, and roughly measures 4825 mm in length, 1930 mm in width, and 1656 mm in height. Its unibody frame boasts a sleek aerodynamic coefficient of drag of 0.247.
When it comes to technology and safety, the Zeekr 7X is equipped with the Zeekr AD assisted driving system powered by dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-X chips. At least one LiDAR sensor is included for advanced driver assistance. The vehicle also comes with a full vehicle warranty for 4 years/100,000 km, extendable to 6 years/150,000 km for the first owner.
The Zeekr 7X is priced at approximately 269,900 yuan (approximately USD 37,630) at launch, positioning it as a compact-to-mid-size SUV with premium features.
Incentives and Market Positioning
The Zeekr 7X aims to appeal to premium buyers by blending strong performance, substantial electric cruising range, and advanced technologies with competitive pricing relative to rivals like Polestar 3 and 4. Its high DC fast-charging rate and extended warranty packages serve as consumer incentives for reliability and convenience.
The electric SUV targets buyers looking for a mix of cutting-edge EV tech, performance, and comfort in a technologically sophisticated package.
The Polestar 3 and 4 in the Market
In the market, Polestar's offerings have seen a boost, particularly in New Zealand, where incentives helped it become the best-selling EV brand in May 2025. The local prices for the Polestar 4 start at $78,500 before on-roads, while the prices for the dual-motor Polestar 3 start at $132,720 before on-roads, with the cheaper single-motor variant starting just shy of $120,000.
Polestar 2 sales have also seen an increase, with May 2025 being the best month so far in 2025, with 82 units sold. In 2025, Polestar has sold 261 cars, which is less than the 594 units it sold in the first five months of 2024.
Polestar has announced a series of incentives to boost sales, including leasing incentives for the Polestar 4 starting from $249 a week. The Polestar 3 has seen an increase in sales, with May 2025 being the best month for the large SUV with 28 sales.
The Polestar 4 has seen 502 sales in the first five months, with May being its best month so far with 133 sales. Preconfigured 2025 Polestar 2 sedans are available with starting prices of $57,000.
The Arrival of the Zeekr 7X
With the arrival of the Zeekr 7X, June 2025 presents an excellent opportunity for drivers across the country to consider EV options. The Zeekr 7X, featuring one of the world's fastest charging batteries, will be entering the market and will compete closely with the Polestar 3. This offer includes upgrades worth up to $20,000 for customers purchasing before 30 June 2025.
If priced right in Australia, the Zeekr 7X could even convince Polestar 4 buyers thanks to its handling.
