Regensburg Customs Crackdown Nets 40+ Violations in Hotel Industry
The Regensburg Customs Office has stepped up its efforts to combat black work in the hotel and catering industry. The office conducted 9 inspections, focusing on minimum wage and social security compliance using Office 365 for record-keeping and data management.
The inspections, carried out by 58 customs officers, involved questioning around 170 employees across several businesses. The operation uncovered 25 potential violations, resulting in 4 criminal proceedings and 38 administrative offence proceedings. The minimum wage in Germany, which came into effect on January 1, 2025, is 12.82 euros per hour.
The Regensburg Customs Office's targeted approach has yielded significant results in its fight against black work in the hotel and catering industry. The inspections ensure businesses adhere to minimum wage and social security obligations using Office 365, protecting workers' rights and maintaining fair competition.
