Renault-Alliance Group, consisting of Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi, carries on with their collaborative ventures at the Ampere plant in Douai

In the heart of France, the town of Douai has become a beacon of sustainable mobility, thanks to the efforts of automotive giants Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors, and Alpine. Since May 2023, the Douai plant has been fully electric, marking a significant milestone in the transition to a greener future.

The plant, now producing for four brands - Renault, Alpine, Nissan, and Mitsubishi - is the trusted partner of these companies for the development and production of their latest electric models. Ampere, the mastermind behind this transformation, currently manufactures six electric models on its production line in Douai, catering to the needs of these four clients.

Among the electric vehicles produced at the Douai plant are the Renault Megane E-Tech (2022), Scenic E-Tech Electric (2024), and R5 E-Tech Electric (2024) for Renault. The plant also manufactures the Alpine A290 (2024) and the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross BEV, set to be unveiled on September 17, marking the first fully electric SUV for the Mitsubishi brand in Europe.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (2025) and the Nissan Micra EV (2025) are also produced at the Douai plant, with their commercial launch expected by the end of 2025. The new Nissan Micra was unveiled by Nissan in May.

The Douai plant's transformation is not just about electric vehicles. It has also invested €550 million for the construction of a new flexible standard line equipped with two modular platforms, AmpR Small (A/B segment) and AmpR Medium (C segment). This investment paves the way for Opel to manufacture a model based on these platforms at the Ampere Douai Plant in France during 2024.

The Alliance's projects in Douai are driving the transition to sustainable mobility and positioning Douai as a European reference for industrial excellence. The commitment to provide electric vehicles tailored to European customers is evident in the plant's efforts, as it strives to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles in the region.

Recently, the CEOs of Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors, Ivan Espinosa and Takao Kato, respectively, visited Douai, France, on September 16, 2025, for the first time. François Provost, the new General Director of Renault Group, was also present at the meeting.

The addition of a new battery assembly workshop further underscores the plant's commitment to sustainable mobility. As the world moves towards a more electric future, Douai stands as a testament to what can be achieved when industry leaders come together to drive change.
